Water Damage Questions, Answered Plainly
Request an estimate from a local provider
Questions and answers
Who actually does the work if I send a request?
An independent local provider does the work. Digitalelite Restoration does not. Referral, not repair. We pass your request to a provider in our network, and that provider contacts you. The provider sets the scope, the price and the schedule. You decide if you want to hire them. You are never required to. Ask the provider about their own licenses and insurance before work starts.
Is it safe to stay in my house after a leak or flood?
It depends on the water. Clean water from a broken pipe is less risky. Floodwater or sewage is not. Turn off the power to wet areas if you can do it safely. Do not touch outlets while standing in water. Keep kids and pets out. If you smell gas or see sagging ceilings, leave and get help.
How much does water damage restoration cost?
It varies a lot. In the U.S., small jobs often run from a few hundred dollars to a couple thousand. Larger floods with drying equipment and repairs can reach many thousands. Size, water type and materials all matter. Get a written quote before work begins. Ask what is included, such as drying equipment, monitoring and cleanup. Compare more than one quote if you can.
Will my homeowners insurance pay for water damage?
Maybe. Some policies may cover sudden damage, like a burst pipe. Many do not cover slow leaks or flooding from outside water. Read your policy or ask your agent. Providers can often help document damage for a claim, using photos and notes. Digitalelite Restoration cannot say what your policy covers. Only your insurer can make that call.
How fast do I need to act on a wet home?
As soon as you safely can. Mold can start to grow in a day or two on damp materials. Wet drywall, carpet pad and wood get worse the longer they stay wet. Request a callback to check provider availability. Many providers can respond quickly, but timing depends on the provider and how busy they are.
What is the difference between water extraction and structural drying?
Extraction pulls out standing water. It comes first. Structural drying comes next. It removes moisture trapped in walls, floors and framing. Providers often use fans and dehumidifiers for this, and they may check moisture levels over several days. Skipping the drying step can leave hidden damp spots. Those spots can lead to mold and warped materials.
Do rainy seasons and smoke seasons change the work?
Yes. Winter rain events bring roof leaks, yard runoff and flooded low spots. Providers can get busy after big storms, so waiting may take longer. Smoke seasons can mean closed windows, which slows natural drying. Dry weather helps, but it does not replace proper drying of slab homes, raised foundations and crawl spaces.
Does it cost anything to send a request?
Sending a request through Digitalelite Restoration is simple and carries no obligation. You tell us what happened. We route it to a provider in our network. The provider then gives you their own quote for the work. Their prices are theirs, not ours. You can say no at any point and keep looking.
